Most, if not all, people who work for a company receive employment benefits to
enhance their life experiences. For example, they may receive health benefits (medical,
dental, and vision insurance), paid vacations, paid sick leave and in some cases, paid
maternity leave, and perhaps life insurance, etc.
When I think about how good God is and has been to me, I have come up with a few
benefits that God provides to His children, those who work in His kingdom. Of course,
this is not an exhaustive list because of time and space, but I am sure you, the readers,
can think of many more.
(1) The forgiveness of sins to those who submit to the will of His Son through
obedience (I John 1:9), who continue to walk in the light (I John 1:7) and who are
steadfast and immovable (I Corinthians 15:58)
(2) Salvation/everlasting life (John 3:16)
(3) Seal of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14)
(4) An intercessor, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 7:24-25; Romans 8:34; I John 2:1)
(5) Provision of things we need (Matthew 6:25-33)
(6) Love, grace and mercy (Psalms 23:6; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16)
(6) Church family, our brothers and sisters in Christ, at home or abroad
(Ephesians 2:19-22; John 1:12-13), Song “God’s Family”
The psalmist identifies some benefits from God upon which you can contemplate and
further explore the meaning of: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His
benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems
your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the
eagle’s.”
